PHS enrolls students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
Our campus, covering more than 6000 square meters in the Matiqan neighborhood of Prishtina, provides our students a clean, friendly and secure learning environment. The campus includes the five-story main building, a full-size basketball gymnasium, a soccer field, the school garden, a large playground recess area, an outdoor seating area for lunch, and a parking area. Our indoor facilities include a cafeteria, library, two computer labs, three science labs, large art and drama rooms, and a multi-purpose room for presentations and events.
Our school is known for its diverse student body with students from more than 15 different nationalities including the United States, England, India, Germany, Scotland, Ireland, Slovenia and more. Our student body includes approximately 60% Kosovars and 40% other nationalities. Flags from around the world, representing every student who has attended PHS, decorate our cafeteria.
The standards-based, American-style, education our students receive sets PHS apart from the other private schools in Kosova. We maintain a low teacher-student ratio to allow for individualized instruction and to enhance teacher-student relations. We recruit and hire our teachers primarily from the United States, and, as required by our parent organization, American Schools International, 80% of our teachers are Native English speakers. We also provide students and parents online, real-time access to the student’s academic performance and daily cafeteria menu, through RenWeb.
PHS follows the common core curriculum developed and used by public schools in the United States of America. Our textbooks and classroom materials are written in English, and are the same as those used in many public schools in the United States. In addition, PHS’s curriculum accords with the standards of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology in Kosova.
PHS has full accreditation from AdvancED, which is a non-profit international educational accreditation agency that represents the largest community of educational professionals in the world. PHS also has a permanent license from the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology in Kosova

Our school hours are from 7:50 am to 15:30, including 7 periods of classes, break and lunchtime.
PHS has a student-to-teacher ratio of 9 to 1, which allows for personalized curricula and direct feedback.
Yes, we ask students entering grades 2 through 12 to take an entrance exam. The exam helps evaluate each prospective student’s capabilities in English and Math before admission. For students in preschool and 1st grade, the Elementary School Principal conducts a simple interview in lieu of an exam.
Yes, our school offers many extracurricular activities, including multiple sports teams, field trips, and theater events and plays. In addition, our school offers clubs for our students which includes Dance Club, Photography and Film Club, DIY Club, Board Game Club and more.
Over 54 percent of our graduates, often with the help of scholarships, have continued their studies internationally at respected universities in more than 20 different countries around the world. Because all classroom instructions are conducted in English, we require students to have a certain level of language skills prior to entering our school.
Yes. The school bus transportation services are based on an agreement that the interested parent and the transport contractor sign. The school bus transportation provides door to door transportation, with each student having their own seat and require a seatbelt.
Yes. The school cafeteria, which fits more than 200 students, provides our students and staff with delicious hot meals that change on a daily basis.
